Moraine is a Midwestern city located in the western portion of Ohio. It is situated within Montgomery County and has a population of about 6,000 according to the 2010 census. Moraine is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area which is located within the Miami Valley region of Ohio. Moraine is about 51 miles north of Cincinnati and about 200 miles southwest of Cleveland.

Moraine derives its name from the large amounts of sand and gravel deposited in the area by the Wisconsin glacier. The original inhabitants of the Moraine area were the Adena and Hopewell Indians. Many settlers later arrived in the area during the 18^th century. During the early 20^th century, manufacturing played an important role in the city. The Dayton-Wright Airplane Company operated a manufacturing plant in Moraine, building over 4,000 aircraft during its operation. In 1957, Moraine was incorporated as a municipality.
